Adeguamento sismico degli Istituti Biologici
L’adeguamento sismico degli Istituti Biologici dell’Università di Verona è stato realizzato mediante l’inserimento di isolatori alla sommità dei pilastri esistenti, previa esecuzione delle opere necessarie al trasferimento dei carichi. La soluzione ha consentito di ridurre la risposta della sovrastruttura ai movimenti del terreno e, conseguentemente, le accelerazioni trasmesse ai diversi piani. Oltre a incrementare la sicurezza dell’edificio, l’intervento ha assicurato una maggiore protezione alle sofisticate apparecchiature scientifiche ospitate nei laboratori.

Seismic Upgrading of the Biological Sciences Buildings
The seismic upgrading of the University of Verona’s Biological Sciences buildings was achieved by installing seismic isolators at the tops of the existing columns, following the works required to transfer the structural loads. The solution reduced the response of the superstructure to ground motion and, consequently, the accelerations transmitted to the different floors. In addition to improving the building’s safety, the intervention provided enhanced protection for the sophisticated scientific equipment housed in the laboratories.
